GrowBiz Launches New Programme for Older Entrepreneurs

Rural enterprise support organisation GrowBiz Scotland has announced the launch of a new programme that’s been specifically designed for older entrepreneurs.

Funded by the Scottish Government Ecosystem Fund, administered by Inspirent, the aim of the new GrowBiz programme is to give participants the confidence, skills and support to build a business that works for them, whatever that looks like.

Individuals based in rural Scotland who are 55 years of age or over are invited to take part, whether they are currently in the process of setting up a business, started one recently, or are just at the stage of exploring an idea.

GrowBiz Co-CEO Alexia McClure says: “This age group should be well-placed to set up an enterprise: they have years of experience, contacts, and often no longer have direct care responsibilities. But dedicated support for them is vital, because there are unique features of starting a business at a later stage of life.

“GrowBiz is especially well placed to provide this support, with almost 20 years of experience in helping entrepreneurs in rural Scotland, and a team who all have experience running their own businesses.”

The programme will include one-to-one advice and guidance, business mentoring, online and in-person workshops and a network of fellow older entrepreneurs, creating a space to share challenges and successes and to be inspired. It’s also flexible, providing support at the pace and frequency that fits the needs and schedule of participants.
