Motorvate Therapies

Meet our latest ‘member of the month’ for the Perth & Kinross Social Enterprise Group, facilitated by GrowBiz

Motorvate Therapies Ltd. is an Occupational Therapy based social enterprise offering years of experience and expertise in working with neurodiverse young people, their families and professionals who support the family. Based in Perth since 2013, families travel to the exciting sensory play clinic space from across the region, and from all over Scotland for the specialised services.

CEO and Occupational Therapist, Susan Doogan, offers in-depth Occupational Therapy sensory integration assessment in her role as an advanced sensory integration practitioner and clinic-based intervention primarily for 0–18-year-olds (adult services also provided on request).  She is very ably supported by Lynne McKenzie, Office administrator and could not run the enterprise without her!

Last year Susan also began lecturing part time at Robert Gordon University to pass on her knowledge, skills and passion for Occupational Therapy to the next generation of therapists.

Motorvate aims to support young people’s understanding of themselves, and their learning journey—which is often a complex and stressful experience due to their neurodivergence and the often-sensory triggering learning environments—to maximise their skills, interests and potential.

The social enterprise works with other third sector organisations in a variety of projects to bring the most holistic input to the young person. Susan says: “One of the projects that is very close to my heart is a joint project between Motorvate, ADHD+ and Saints in the community, where we are nearing the end of a three-year funding cycle to provide sports opportunities for young people with ADHD (plus other neurodiversity).”

She adds: “The project has provided supported sessions with many sports and the outcome has been heart-warming to watch.”
