Local Creatives Joining Forces this May

Perthshire Artisans members are joining forces with artists and creatives based at Perth Creative Exchange, inviting visitors to their second collaborative Creative Spring Market and Open Studios event.

Open from 10am - 4pm on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May at Perth Creative Exchange, visitors can browse and shop from 18 independent artists and designer-makers, chat to the makers in person, visit artists studios where some will be demonstrating their process, including ceramicist and Perthshire Artisan Ceri White, who will be throwing pots and demonstrating how she creates her bright and colourful pieces.

The variety of Perthshire Artisans’ work available to see, buy and enjoy in person includes glass art, print making, ceramics, willow weaving and jewellery. The Creative Spring Market event coincides with the Perth Festival of the Arts ArTay event, doubling the opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in Perthshire’s talented creative scene.

Developed by specialist rural enterprise experts GrowBiz, Perthshire Artisans is a curated platform supporting and promoting the region’s diverse range of creative talent, enabling local artists and creatives to find new markets as well as providing business support and a community amongst the members themselves. Caron Ironside, Perthshire Artisans Facilitator says: “It’s great to be working again with artists at Perth Creative Exchange. This is exactly the kind of local opportunity that members enjoy for a myriad of reasons, including being able to share their work in person.”

Perthshire Artisan and willow weaver Rachel Kirk, who will be at the event, says: “Its lovely to go to a market and meet lots of people. I never know when a conversation will spark a creative idea and its good to get feedback on the work Ive been doing. It can get a bit lonely in the studio so a market is a great chance to connect with customers and chat to other creatives which gives a real sense of community.”

This 2-day event is organised by the tenant artists at Perth Creative Exchange who value the importance of the building as a creative hub and actively encourage wider community access to the building. They also run a variety of events and workshops throughout the year, making creative opportunities easily accessible.

Open on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May, 10am - 4pm, there is also a pop-up cafe providing an option for a coffee, tea and delicious cakes. All are welcome and it’s free entry, dog friendly and with some disabled access. Perth Creative Exchange is on Stormont Street, Perth, PH1 5NW.
