GrowBiz XChange network evenings are informal and friendly events open to all – and a great opportunity to meet other local businesses and hear from experts in their field.
The evening will kick off at 6.30pm with a buffet and networking.
The March XChange will incorporate GrowBiz’s AGM, with a review of the past year and a look forward to the next 12 months.
You'll then hear from our guest speaker Catherine Stihler, new CEO of Open Knowledge International (OKI), a global not for profit organisation working on the benefits of open data for civil society.
Catherine represented Scotland in the European Parliament for 20 years. In this time she held many and varied roles from Deputy Leader of the European Parliamentary Labour Party (EPLP) to the Editor of the Parliament Magazine. Over the years, Catherine has been recognised as an ambassador for accessibility, consumer and citizen rights. She was Vice-Chair of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee, and worked on digital policy, prioritising the digital single market, digital skills, better accessibility of digital products for the disabled, as well as citizen online data protection and privacy.
Out of her direct role as an MEP, Catherine was elected unopposed to serve as the 52nd Rector of the University of St Andrews (2014-2017), only the 2nd woman in 600 years to hold the position.
Catherine stood down as an MEP on 31 January 2019 to take up her new role as CEO of OKI.
Catherine's personal challenge for 2019 is to run the Jersey marathon in October.
After hearing from Catherine there is a Q&A session and a chance to do some further networking.
