Eco Hub and Refill Station in Pitlochry Crowdfunder
Handam Refill Station CIC are planning to open an Eco Hub with a Refill Station in Pitlochry, a place to find all the information that you need on how to refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle and repurpose, whilst also being able to do your plastic-free grocery shopping in the same location. It will also be the new home to the NeighbourFood Market in Pitlochry. They are running a Crowdfunder campaign to help with the start-up costs. Find out more and donate here.
And listen to Clare Pinchbeck of Hettie’s Tearoom talking about how she first met Kaja of Handam Refill Station at a GrowBiz Women’s Enterprise Network event a few years ago in this video.
GrowBiz Client Riding High
GrowBiz client Karen Inkster is well recognised as a barefoot champion in the horse world, and has set up her barefoot horse centre outside Dunkeld and which is powered also completely by off grid electricity. In 2017, she did an unsupported trip across the Hebrides with mare Connie and dog Pip. The resulting book about her adventure has just won the International Equine Adventure literature award. Karen says the news took a while to sink in, but proceeds from her book sales are going the SSPCA, as they have an emergency fundraising campaign following the discovery of 60 dogs and cats found in Glenalmond in appalling conditions.
The Adventures of MacGnome
GrowBiz are very much enjoying the adventures of MacGnome — the original Scottish gnome — as he makes his way around the shops and businesses of Dunkeld and Birnam. He even has his own Facebook page - follow him here!
