Coronavirus Update — 8 June

This has already been a busy month for GrowBiz, with Perthshire Artisans going live within the next few days and a national funding campaign for rural micro-enterprises launching next week. Please follow @REDS_Scotland on Instagram and Twitter to find out more about this exciting initiative to support rural enterprises in Scotland. More about that to come...

Other news includes:

The Scottish Government Business Support Fund: The fund is being expanded to include small B&Bs who were ineligible for other support due to not having a business bank account. They will be able to apply for a share of £3 million of funding which has been re-purposed from the Newly Self-Employed Hardship Fund. This funding will be administered by local authorities and applications are expected to open on 15 June. Find out more here.

The Gannochy Trust COVID-19 Recovery and Renewal Fund: This £500,000 fund is designed to assist in keeping local charities operational during the pandemic, enabling them to develop and deliver services that local communities need. Charities operating in Perth and Kinross that fit the eligibility criteria can apply here.

Small Business Support Grant: From today you will be able to apply for this grant if you not a ratepayer, but you occupy certain types of shared space. For example: shared office, business incubator or industrial space. You must lease the space from a landlord who is the registered ratepayer for the property and have a lease signed before 17 March 2020. You must also be a registered business or partnership, employ at least one person and have a business bank account. Find out more here.

VisitScotland Panel Discussion: This session between some of Europe's most prominent providers of online booking solutions and VisitScotland is aimed at visitor attractions, tour providers and activity providers. It will discuss digital technology that can help them to reopen safely and even enhance their visitors experience. There will also be a chance to ask questions. The event takes place on 11 June at 11:00. Find out more here.

Scottish Rural Action Survey: Scottish Rural Action are urgently asking that people and organisations across rural Scotland take part in this survey to capture their individual, community and grassroots experiences. Everyone’s opinion matters, so whether you’ve been involved in your community response, or you’ve been shielding at home, they want to understand your experience. The information from this survey will inform how the Scottish Government might support rural communities as we emerge from lockdown, so it is important that rural Scotland’s voice is heard loudly. Take part here.

Innerpeffray Library Launch Virtual Tours: Lara Haggert, Manager at Innerpeffray Library in Perthshire, got in touch last week to thank GrowBiz for their help in setting up virtual tours. She said: “The tours have been a great way for people to connect with Innerpeffray when they have been unable to visit – and also will be very useful to us for promoting our content to potential visitors in future.”

Two tours are now up and running on the website, with a third in progress. Take a look here.
