Adventure into Books: GrowBiz Case study

Adventure into Books, a new bookshop in the Wellmeadow, Blairgowrie is hoping to open its doors to customers on the 24th, but will certainly be taking orders by phone or email from that date.

“Possibly feels the craziest time to be opening a shop given the ongoing uncertainty,” admits owner Kate Davies. “But I’ve gone back through the business case and the cash-flow projections, and all the reasons for making the leap still stack up—at the very least it still looks worth giving it a try!”

Kate adds about the help she received from GrowBiz, “Recommended by another shop-owner in Blairgowrie, the support from GrowBiz, and my Enterprise Facilitator Trudy Duffy in particular, has been invaluable. Trudy helped me take a long, hard look at the gut feeling idea, and then gave excellent, practical advice on how to make it all happen. I truly would not be stood in my shop today (I’m waiting for a chair to be delivered!), wading through my still huge to-do list, and about to open in ten days, without the help of GrowBiz and Trudy.

“Even better – I know GrowBiz will be there for me as I climb the huge learning curve ahead. With that in mind, I would like to pass on the best piece of advice I was given at the start: ask for all the advice and help you can get, and then get on with it.

“Beyond opening the doors on the 24th June 2020, I’m so looking forward to a non-socially distanced first birthday party 24th June 2021!”
