GrowBiz began operations in June 2007, although the Community Panel which supports the Facilitator came into being almost a year before that.  GrowBiz set up as Enterprising Eastern Perthshire following a successful bid to the Scottish Government.  The successful Challenge Fund bid asked organisations to run a community based support service for people who wanted to start in business to operate using a method developed by the Dr Ernesto Sirolli, founder of the Sirolli Institute.

Dr Sirolli founded his original project in Esperance, in South West Australia over 25 years ago and projects using the Enterprise Facilitation model are now operating in many parts of the globe; North America, Canada and Europe. These groups are community based, volunteer run and dedicated to supporting anyone planning to set up a business.
